This might just me be taking the game way to seriously, but I can't help it! The thought of an entire society made up of dragons is just really interesting for me. So, awhile back, I began to wonder how Water dragons communicate. It's fine for all the other flights, but what about us? We literally live in the middle of the ocean! So, I posted a thing about it on the Water private forum, and most of the responses I got went along the lines of a sort of whaleish thing, like they had their own language made up of sounds that only they could understand. Echolocation. Then, above ground around other flights, they would speak "common", but there would be low-level screeching/high pitched noises thrown in. Kind of similar to how the mermaids sound in Harry Potter when speaking above ground. Just not as...ear splitting. Dragons not born into the flight who had not grown up speaking the language have some trouble learning it, as it's a bit different from other languages above-ground. They also sometimes act as translators if dragons from other flights have trouble understanding the Water dragons.
The other response I got was that we all go around writing on slates.
So, my question is, do you think that each of the flights would have their own language? Or that there would be a "common" language that all the dragons can speak?

If you read the dragon encyclopedia pages on FR, they tell you. Most all speak a common tongue. Faes use their earfins to express themselves a lot, so they find it harder to understand other dragon's emotions and mood without them. Coatls have their own high-pitched, squealing language but can also speak the common tongue. I'm pretty sure the rest all speak the same.

That's not really what I'm asking. I already knew about the different breeds and their languages- what I'm asking is if you think that each different FLIGHT has its own language.

Lightning talks very fast, sometimes too fast for other flights to understand.

From what I've heard, the wind flight doesn't really have their own language, we just tend to get distracted easy and go off on tangents quite often. Carried away, if you want xD
